The accuracy of the references is the author's responsibility. Only published articles or reports readily accessible in the general literature should be cited. The references should appear in the text in numerical order, as should the reference list. Where there are more than 10 contributing authors please list only the first author and use et al. Tables, footnotes and figures

Tables should be clear and self-explanatory, without vertical rules. Any footnotes required should be indicated using superscripted symbols.

Footnotes to the main text are acceptable and should be identified by superscripted numbers. Footnotes should also appear on the page of citation.

In Word files, figures can be presented within the text of the paper; however, all figures should be supplied in an electronic format as well (postscript, EPS and TIFF preferred). Figures should be formatted to fit into, or be reduced to, a single (85 mm) or double (178 mm) column width. Please also supply a legend for each figure.

Line illustrations or camera-ready text: these must be of sufficient quality for publication as submitted i.e. clear, clean, sharp and of an even density. Figures will not be redrawn or relabelled. Any lettering or text should be in proportion to the rest of the figure.

Halftones (photographs): halftones should be of sufficient quality with respect to detail, contrast and fineness of grain to withstand the unavoidable loss of contrast inherent in the printing process.

Colour: colour figures are acceptable for publication.

Html files

This document describes the instructions for use of the eWiC HTML template.

The standard eWiC HTML template has been designed for efficient integration into the BCS website and to provide a common look and feel for the entire eWiC archive.

For these reasons the style settings within the HTML code should not be changed.

Fonts

All content within the paper should be using the HTML font tag:-

<font face="Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif">

The standard font size is

<font face="Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif" size="2">

except for the Abstract of the paper which should be

<font face="Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif" size="1">

Headings

The title of the paper should be within an <h1> (Heading 1) tag.

'A' Headings should be within an <h2> tag.

'B' Headings should be within an <h3> tag.

'C' Headings should be within an <h4> tag.

Hyperlinks

The BCS website is html frame-based so hyperlinks to other websites should contain the target="_top" tag to load the link in the same window or target="_" to load the link in a new window.

Examples

<a href="http://www.bcs.org/" target="_top">  Same Window

<a href=http://www.bcs.org/ target="_"> New Window

Images should reside in an 'images' folder and should be in either JPEG or GIF format and include a suitable description tag.

Example: <img src="images/image.gif" alt="Image Description">

Please note that image size or quality may be reduced by the BCS in some instances.

All mathematical formulas should be considered as artworks and supplied separately in an electronic format.

Use of Javascript, Flash, Java Applets and other objects

Please do not use any of the above mentioned mechanisms for manipulating the view and interactivity of content.
